As the development of autonomous weapons systems (AWS) accelerates, it is crucial to address their ethical, legal, political, and technological implications.

This panel will feature feminist and decolonial perspectives —voices that are often overlooked in international discussions, offering unique insights into what it means to resist the increasing automation of violence across the spectrum of warfare technologies, from autonomous weapons to decision-support systems.

Invited speakers:

  • Ishmael Bhila – Activist and scholar focusing on decolonial approaches to technology, Paderborn University
  • Marwa Fatafta – Expert on digital rights and governance in the MENA region, Access Now
  • Jennifer Menninger (WILPF Germany) & Elvin Çetin (DFG-VK) – Members of the Stop Killer Robots campaign

Moderated by: Lucas Hoffmann (Disruption Network Lab)

As part of the event, we are pleased to present the policy paper “Feminist Foreign Policy in Practice: A Path to Regulating Autonomous Weapons Systems,” co-authored by WILPF member Jennifer Menninger and Elvin Çetin (DFG-VK) and developed within the framework of the German Stop Killer Robots Campaign.
